The Shermalot Water Ski Show Team story began in the summer of 1975 when a group of die-hard water skiers banded together to share their love of the sport. The Shermalot Show Team provides exciting entertainment to hundreds of thousands of citizens throughout northern Adams County and the state. The Shermalot Show Team is the third longest continuous running water ski show in the State of Wisconsin and a major tourism attraction to the Adams County Town of Rome, performing shows twice weekly on Lake Arrowhead since 1982.
The Shermalot Show Team has a deep heritage of competitive show skiing and are seven time Wisconsin State Division II Champions. The team has been ranked in the top ten ski shows in the country and, in 2021, won both the Wisconsin State Division II Championship and the National Division II Championship.
A passion for excellence and innovation has led Shermalot to perform many first time acts including the first Doubles/Swivel hot pick-up, the shoe ski gainer, a swivel line hookup, as well as our signature barefoot pyramids. Through this pursuit of excellence, many members have been rewarded in the form of State, National, and World Championships. Including Jennifer Calleri-Schwenk who is an eight time National, and four time world champion in Womens barefooting and a member of the Water Ski Hall of Fame. Through their passion for the sport, many members of our team have been recruited by professional ski shows in Europe, Australia, Asia, and the United States.
Throughout the years, the Shermalot family has grown. Our focus on healthy, family-oriented activities has built many lifelong friendships, marriages, and entire families that share a bond beyond the sandy beaches and sunshine of the Town of Rome. Some of the founding members of the team are still active and we have several second and even third generation family members participating in our shows.
We are also very proud that by advocating leadership to youth, many of our members have gone on to enjoy professional careers and become leaders in their communities. The team performs many community service projects throughout the town including assisting with the construction of Rome Lions Park (Arrowhead Park), improvements and maintenance of the Lake Arrowhead Dam show site, road cleanup, dock and boat lift removal, and ski clinics for kids. Many of our members also volunteered during the recent high water problems in the Town of Rome. The Shermalot Water Ski Show Team also revived the Camelot Frolic celebration for property owners on Lake Camelot.
The Shermalot Water Ski Show Team is committed to making our community a better place through healthy, family-focused entertainment, community service, and leadership advocacy in youth. We greatly appreciate the support that we have received from the citizens, businesses, and governing bodies in our area. Franklin Roosevelt once said “we must fill our children’s time with activities that are exciting, interesting, and good for them or they will fill it with those that are exciting, interesting, and not good for them.” With continued support, we can offer fun, healthy, safe activities for the youth of our area.
